In order to provide effective teaching, a teacher needs to have an ideal limit on the number of students he/she teaches at one time. This is to maintain the quality of teaching in the classroom. The higher student-teacher ratio, the lower the level of supervision and attention from teacher to students.

According to Government Regulation 74/2008 Article 17 on Teachers, the ideal student-teacher ratio for primary, junior, and senior schools is 1:20 (1 teacher, 20 students).

In Pagar Alam, generally, the teacher-student ratios at the primary school, junior high school, and senior high school levels are 1:11, 1:10, and 1:12, respectively. This means that if teachers and students are evenly distributed in schools at Pagar Alam, teachers can effectively teach students and can even provide better focus and attention during the teaching and learning process.
