Abstract

"In February 2012 there was inflation of 0.05 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 130.96.From 66 cities of CPI, 40 cities experienced inflation and 26 cities experienced deflation.The highest inflation occurred in Mataram 1.73 percent with CPI 145 , 51 and the lowest occurred in Tangerang 0.03 percent with CPI 131.59 while the highest deflation occurred in Jambi 1.29 percent with CPI 133.21 and the lowest was 0.04 percent Palu with CPI 135.00.

Inflation was attributable to price increases as indicated by the increase in index in food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group 0.34 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.27 percent; clothing group of 1.22 percent; health group 0.15 percent; education, recreation and sports 0.08 percent and transportation, communication and financial services group 0.06 percent. While the foodstuff category experienced deflation 0.73 percent.

The inflation rate for calendar year (January-February) 2012 was 0.81 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2012 to February 2011) was 3.56 percent.

The core components in February 2012 experienced inflation of 0.33 percent, the rate of core component inflation for the calendar year (January-February) 2012 by 0.77 percent and core component inflation rate year on year (February 2012 to February 2011) of 4.31 percent.
