Abstract
The number of workforce in South Sumatra Province in February 2019 was 4.34 million people, a decrease of 28.6 thousand people, down by 0.66 percent compared to February 2018
The number of people working in the Province of South Sumatra in February 2019 reached 4.17 million people, a decrease of 26.2 thousand people or a decrease of 0.63 percent compared to the situation in February 2018
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in South Sumatra Province in February 2019 reached 3.99 percent, a decrease compared to February 2018 of 4.02 percent or down 0.03 percent
During the February 2018 - February 2019 period there were 7 (seven) business fields experiencing increased absorption of working population, namely: Agriculture, Mining, electricity, gas and water, Trade, Transport and Communication, Financial and Real Estate Activities, and Other Services
Based on the number of working hours in February 2019, from 4.17 million working people there were 2.65 million people or 63.53 percent worked above 35 hours per week, while the population worked with less than 7 hours per week working hours reaching 90.5 thousand people or 2.17 percent
The situation in February 2019, the working population with a lower primary education level still dominated employment absorption at 43.12 percent.
