Abstract

Exports

The export value of Sumatera Selatan in July 2024 reached USD 623.02 million, a decrease of 0.45 percent compared to June 2024. However, compared to July 2023, the export value increased by 14.34 percent.

Non-oil and gas exports in July 2024 were USD 580.38 million, down 0.08 percent from June 2024 but up 14.58 percent from July 2023.

Cumulatively, the export value of Sumatera Selatan for the period January–July 2024 was USD 3,569.64 million, down 11.01 percent from the same period in 2023.

In July 2024, the largest export markets were China with USD 235.17 million, India with USD 62.23 million, and South Korea with USD 75.30 million.

Cumulatively, the largest export values for Sumatera Selatan from January to July 2024 were directed to China (USD 1,302.92 million), India (USD 412.05 million), and Malaysia (USD 281.71 million), with these three markets contributing 55.93 percent of the total exports. Exports to ASEAN and the European Union were 23.90 percent and 3.44 percent, respectively.

Imports

The import value for Sumatera Selatan in July 2024 was USD 237.10 million, a significant increase of 69.55 percent compared to June 2024 and a dramatic 245.65 percent increase compared to July 2023.
Oil and gas imports in July 2024 totaled USD 1.81 million, up 80.10 percent from June 2024 but down 3.38 percent from July 2023. Non-oil and gas imports in July 2024 amounted to USD 235.29 million, a rise of 69.47 percent from June 2024 and 252.66 percent from July 2023.
The top three suppliers of imported goods from January to July 2024 were China (USD 811.49 million, 60.25 percent), Finland (USD 174.16 million, 12.93 percent), and Germany (USD 53.64 million, 3.98 percent). Imports from ASEAN during January–July 2024 totaled USD 165.50 million (12.29 percent) and from the European Union USD 261.43 million (19.41 percent). The trade balance of Sumatera Selatan for July 2024 showed a surplus of USD 385.92 million, with the surplus coming from the non-oil and gas sector (USD 345.10 million) and the oil and gas sector (USD 40.83 million).
