On Wednesday (5/12), BPS Kota Pagar Alam held an event entitled Expose Data 2018: BPS Kota Pagar Alam Goes to Campus with the theme "Data for Millenium Generation". The event was held at the STKIP (Teacher Training and Education College) campus of Muhammadiyah Pagar Alam and was attended by 150 participants who came from students and lecturers in the STKIP Muhammadiyah Pagar Alam environment. The event took place smoothly and full of enthusiasm from the participants.
This event was opened by Jonni Dimyatio, S.E., M.Si. as the chairman of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kota Pagar Alam. In his remarks, Jonni invited all participants to attend and listen carefully to the session after session of the 2018 Expose Data event so that the participants' statistical literacy would increase. Jonni emphasized that statistical literacy is needed in the current millennium era - where hoaxes circulate more quickly - in order to be able to ward off hoax after hoax related to Indonesia's current economic, political and social phenomena. It is hoped that the increase in statistical literacy will be able to be transmitted by the participants who are present when they later enter the world of education as educators.
In the talkshow session moderated by Arni Wijaya, S.Pd, M.Pd, the talkshow resource person who is also the head of BPS Kota Pagar Alam, Dedi Fahlevi, M.Sc. convey that accurate and factual data and information are needed in this millennium era. Dedi explained that the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) was here to answer the challenges of the millennium era related to data and information. According to him, BPS has now provided a lot of strategic statistical data quickly and precisely through the Allstats website and Android application. The availability of BPS data in the website and Android application format is expected to be able to help students both in lecture assignments and when they become educators of the nation's next generation.
In the talk show, there were also question and answer sessions, impromptu quiz sessions and online quiz sessions which added to the enthusiasm of the participants in this event. In the question and answer session, most of the participants asked about BPS activities and statistical data produced by BPS. Meanwhile, impromptu quiz sessions and online quiz sessions were held to evaluate participants' understanding of the material presented in a fun and enjoyable way. The participants who attended hoped that events like this could be carried out regularly on their campuses so that their statistical literacy could increase through a series of fun and enjoyable events such as this Expose Data.
